These paintings for Yamaha Australia's head office were commissioned by Andrew Carruthers (Yamaha Australia's Chief Financial Officer); he was at the Sydney Royal Easter Show and noticed my artwork on display.
At a subsequent meeting at the Yamaha offices in Sydney we discussed the " How, Where and Why", I measured up the spaces available and came away from that meeting with a brief to incorporate Yamaha products in a series of works in my outback painting style; to make the product "Australian" as opposed to Japanese, American or European. The paintings were also to be happy and vibrant so as to enthuse and inspire the office staff.
I spent some time doing sketches which were sent through to Sydney for comment/discussion. Once approved, I spent a further four months putting the ideas onto canvas.
The resulting five paintings showing a dirt bike, road bike, quad bike (ATV), jet ski and outboard (all in a uniquely Australian vista), now hang happily in the head offices of Yamaha Australia Pty. Ltd.
